No Time Like the Present - Vayak'hel

You might look at this article and think I just wrote it. But the truth is, I wrote this before my Wednesday night deadline while I was sitting in the theater, waiting to go on stage for the Bais Chomesh production, The Way Back. As I waited, I reflected on what it means to show up, be ready/act on time, and give when it counts.

Every time I get money, I immediately deposit it into the bank. However, when it came time to pay the $5 for my costume for production, I didn’t have any cash on hand. Yesterday was the last day to submit the payment and I had to borrow the money from my sister to make it in on time. Today, I came to pick up my costume, because I waited until the last minute. my costume wasn’t ready. It might not seem like a big deal, but in that moment, it felt overwhelming.

When reading this week’s parsha, I thought about how Moshe Rabbeinu A"H told the Bnei Yisroel to donate to the Mishkan. Some responded right away. Others waited, thinking they had time. But by the time they came forward, the opportunity was gone. They missed their chance to be part of something holy.

Baruch Hashem, I still got my costume. But I almost didn’t. And that feeling of rushing, of nearly missing it, reminded me how important it is to act when the moment is in front of you. We all push things off sometimes. We wait for a better time, for when we feel more ready, for when life feels easier. But most of the time, the right time is now. So, if something is tugging at your heart, if there’s something meaningful you’ve been thinking of doing. This is your moment. Whether it’s giving tzedakah, helping someone out, or even showing up fully for yourself, don’t wait. Act now. Show up. Give with your whole heart. You never know how far one moment of action can reach.

Also, if you’d like to donate to Spreading Torah, now’s the perfect time!
